Things to do near Looe, Cornwall part 2 (2017)

If you feel less like walking on the wild side and more like smelling the coffee & looking at the flowers, try Lanhydrock or Mount Edgecumbe, fantastic National Trust estates with all the whistles and bells you'd expect.

Spectacular views, great walks, mind-boggling greenery and even frisbee golf! They come complete with their own cafes that are well up to National Trust scratch, and Mount Edgecombe commands fantastic views of the most spectacular river estuary on the planet overlooking Plymouth.

For country pubs don't even get me started, the Rod And Line has already had a mention, how about the halfway house at Polbathic, unique with its own library for some private introspection with a book and a pint. The Inn on the Shore at Downderry gives you Rame head to the left across 5 miles of sandy beach and Looe and Looe island to the right. The Crooked Inn, The Highwayman, the Halfway House, the Gook...... You don't have to go far off the beaten track to find a great pub with a warm welcome.

If you need somewhere to stay the South East Cornwall Tourist Association has the definitive listing. Every kind of bed can be found from the sublime to the ridiculous. You can score a £1000 a week  (large) love shack on Freathy cliffs if you have the stamina or plug-in at one of our old style but new standard static caravan parks for a holiday bargain. There are literally thousands and thousands of beds for rent in South East Cornwall and a huge number of these are a very short hop from the bright lights of looe (and Adrenalin Quarry).

If you're self catering you can buy the freshest offerings straight off the boat right by looe's fish key, an internationally accredited renewable fishing fleet harbour.  Speed boat trips, dinghy sailing, a lifeboat station and a pretty cool play area in the millpool carpark for adventurous children. It's all here for the doing, come on down and check us out
