Things to do near Looe, Cornwall part 1 (2017)

Cornwall's  "undiscovered" corner has somehow got hold of an impressive list of things to do, it's difficult to know where to start.

How about The 7 km of sandy beaches between Rame head and Looe? At low tide you can walk uninterrupted for that distance (watch out for the Cliff close to the longstone after mid-tide) It's like another green world, with only Freathy and Portwrinkle there to show you that you're within touching distance of civilisation (and Adrenalin Quarry). At low tide there will only be your footsteps and the Eddystone lighthouse far out to sea.

On your way it's well worth stamping up the cliff at freathy for the cliff top cafe or the Jolly Roger at Portwrinkle for home-cooked cafe food and a cracking cup of coffee. After Portwrinkle the beach changes colour from gold to black and the reefs get sharper and darker. Check out the crazy tidal harbour at the far beach in Portwrinkle, complete with smuggler-tastic history of treachery, violence and debauchery

If you're coming into South East Cornwall on the A38 then swing by the maize maze on the way through.  If you're hungry you could do worse and stop at the Rod And Line and Tideford for some down-home cooking and a warm welcome. On the other side of Adrenalin quarry Bodmin moor beckons, with wide open spaces and mind blowing features like Goldiggings, the Hurlers, and the Cheesewring, all with their own unique wow factor, particularly if you're blessed with good weather.

If you need more action than beaches and wide open spaces  there is a great list to work down. Fancy a gig in a cave? Carnglaze Caverns puts on tours and shows in its unique subterranean space. The beautiful and bizarre Paul Corins magnificent music machine Emporium is dedicated to Fairground organs. Looe Valley railway from Liskeard is worth doing just for the ride, and takes you to the throbbing metropolis of Looe  in fine style. Flying lessons at Bodmin anyone? Or a speedboat trip from Looe to Falmouth? How about a day shooting clays at Cart Ridge? A spectacular set up makes for a punishing day out with a gun if that floats your boat.
