Chef/Instructor/Guide (2016)

Can you cook fantastic food out in the woods for 15 people? Are you a great host?

We're hiring a Chef/Instructor/Guide for our Wild in the Woods Overnight Adventure

We’re looking for a dynamic person to manage and host our overnight adventures.  You must love the outdoors, cooking and people.  You must be fit, healthy and most importantly, great with our customers.

A typical booking cycle would include setting up a camp, meeting and greeting your group, taking them to the woods, building a fire, prepping and cooking the evening meal, serving, clearing up & general hosting.  In the morning cooking a full breakfast and delivering the group to their activities and then clearing up and resetting.  (Overnight stays may be required).

We want someone who is: an excellent facilitator, organised, hard working and independent & able to work under pressure. You will need to have great people skills and be willing to learn bush craft.

This role will include Adrenalin Quarry Instructor duties, general maintenance and cleaning.

You will be trained on The Zip, Giant Swing & Axe Throwing (in addition Coasteer training may be an option ). You must be able to work at heights.  After training you will be deployed as required when not in the woods.

 

Essential Criteria:

Attainments/ competencies: Clear spoken English, good keyboard skills.

Previous experience: A proven track record in dealing with the general public.

Personal attributes: Must be professional with staff and customers, good listening skills, tidy appearance.

Special aptitudes: Leadership, clear communication, accurate, systematic and detailed record keeping.

Physical abilities/ circumstances: Able to work outdoors in all weather, be fit and strong.

Special requirements: Must be able to work long weeks in high season, bank holidays and weekends as required.

Desirable Criteria:

Qualifications: SPA/ ERCA high ropes/ low ropes/ site specific instructor/ GNAS/ Powerboat certificate/ water safety certificate/ outdoor first aid/ HSE certificate/ training & education certificate, full (preferably clean) UK driving license.

Previous experience:  Experience in the high ropes industry, seasonal tourism, coasteering, climbing, training/ teaching, mountain biking, team management, site maintenance & repair, manual labour.

Special aptitudes: working at height, manual dexterity.

Physical abilities/ circumstances: Strong swimmer, rock climbing, good balance.
